Drop the animal's favorite food near it (boars love mushrooms and berries, wolves want raw meat, lox eat cloudberries or barley, askvin eat eggs or meat, chickens eat seeds), stay within range but out of sight while the taming bar fills, then check the animal's name for the tamed label. Once tamed, animals can be bred by feeding two tamed adults, producing offspring that grow and can be harvested for resources. Lox and askvin can be saddled and ridden, turning them into mounts and mobile work platforms. Hostile creatures have their own behaviors, resistances and drop tables, and the raid event system periodically throws specific enemy waves — like 'The ground is shaking' troll raids — at your base defenses.
